Peachtree Punch 2.0

Entry 3 — Peachylicious, Painkiller-adjacent, and a pain in the ass.

Peachtree Punch 2.0

Also answering to “Porch Flogger,” this modernized Trader Vic’s punch combines fresh peach, coconut cream, citrus, rum, and peach liqueur. It is a seasonal summer drink, a very peach-forward cousin of the Painkiller, and—this is important archival scholarship—a pain in the ass to make.

The Build

  • Fresh yellow or white peach, pitted and coarsely chopped with skin
  • Fresh orange juice
  • Fresh lemon juice
  • Coconut Cream
  • Natural peach liqueur
  • Blended lightly aged rum
  • Seltzer

Muddle the peach with the orange and lemon juices. Add everything except the seltzer, then 12 oz crushed ice and 4–6 agitator cubes; flash-blend. Double-strain into a double old-fashioned glass over crushed or cubed ice, top with seltzer, and garnish with freshly grated nutmeg and a peach wedge.

Jeff’s Thoughts

The first impression was fresh nutmeg and peach on the nose, followed by a sharp, bitey wave of lemon and orange. Peach arrived next, coconut rounded the finish, and the rum finally stepped forward at the end. It felt boozier than a Painkiller, although the peach liqueur spoke louder than the rum. This is a summer-only production because it wants a genuinely fresh peach. I initially assumed we were using a Palisade peach; the glamorous truth was Costco. A Colorado Palisade rematch absolutley dominated. If you don't live in Colorado these might be hard to get. Also, never consider moving here. It sucks. Tell your friends.

Stasi’s Thoughts

This is peachylicious. The coconut rounds out the peach better than a Sex on the Beach. That’s my comparison, whether Jeff knows what is in one or cares.
